The Blog of  “Two Worlds One Chalan” tells the story of Tyler Brooks, a Peruvian – American chalan, who lives in the United States, with many histories to tell that will inspire you and will steal your heart.

Tyler comenzó a bailar desde los cuatro años y medio, nunca pensamos que la marinera nos atraparía de tal forma que ahora en casa todos los días escuchamos una marinera.

Tyler began dancing marinera when he was four years old.  We never thought the marinera dance with capture us in a way that we listen to marinera songs everyday.

Con el tiempo hemos aprendido y seguimos aprendiendo, sin embargo siempre me preguntaba porque no hay un blog o alguna referencia donde leer como mamá, temas que me puedan ayudar con mi hijo. Todo lo que sabemos se los debemos a sus profesores, a algunas mamas que nos han aconsejado, y decia yo; en todo este tiempo hemos pasado tantas cosas y con lo que me gusta escribir, siento que puedo crear un blog, consistente, informativo, ameno de leer, éticamente directo, sincero y sin agredir a nadie. Solo con el afán de seguir creciendo en este hermoso mundo de la marinera, viendo a nuestro hijo como chalan, desarrollándose como chalan y porque no algun día ser uno de los mejores del mundo viviendo en Estados Unidos.

We are learning and we continue learning, although I asked myself why there wasn’t a blog or any reference where as a mom I could read about subjects that will help me with my son and his marinera dance. Everything we know is what different trainers have told us, some marinera moms have also gave us great advice, too.  I said to myself, I think I can write a blog, consistent, informative, with great content, easy to read, ethically direct without hurting anyone; with the purpose of continuing growing in the wonderful world of marinera; watching our kid developing as a chalan and why not perhaps one of these days be one of the best chalan dancers living in the United States.

Desde hace años decidí escribir mi propio blog “Two worlds One Chica”, donde cuento historias inspiradoras para madres emprendedoras y trato de inspirar a mujeres a que puedan tener un balance en su vida como mamas, esposas, amigas, etc y al mismo tiempo desarrollándose profesionalmente.

I have been writing my own blog called Two Worlds One Chica, where I share inspiring stories for women mompreneurs. I try to inspire women to have a balance in their lives as moms, wives, friends, etc and at the same time developing professionally.

Casualidades del destino mientras pensaba en el nombre del blog, se me ocurrió el de TWO WORLDS – ONE CHALAN, que también rima con mi blog TWO WORLDS ONE CHICA y yo creo fielmente en que todo tiene una razón de ser. As I was thinking about the blog name, I thought about Two Worlds One Chalan that also rhymes with Two Worlds One Chica and I firmly believe that things happens for a reason. Durante estas vacaciones de verano en Estados Unidos, estuvimos en Lima por casi dos meses, entrenando a mi hijo Tyler de ahora ocho años en su marinera norteña que tanto le apasiona y a Stella Rose mi hija menor de cuatro con su español, que en su terquedad no quería hablarlo bien. Lo entendía, pero no hablaba frases completas, o solo decía algunas palabras y obviamente prefería hablar en inglés.

During our summer vacation in the United States, we spend a couple months in Perú with my son Tyler, now eight years old training him in his beloved marinera and my little Stella Rose four years old attending preschool so she could improve her Spanish. She was so stubborn that she wouldn’t answer in Spanish, she would understand but not speak it much, only small phrases and obviously she preferred to speak in English. 

Durante estos dos meses en Perú, pasamos muchas aventuras las cuales me hicieron pensar en porque no como mamá, que queremos los mejor para nuestros hijos, también puedo motivar a otros padres a inculcarles a nuestros hijos nuestra cultura, nuestro idioma, y tantas virtudes que tenemos al haber nacido en Perú, no? y que aunque nuestros hijos no hayan nacido en Perú aprendan a querer lo nuestro; así como tambien darles la oportunidad que brinda la marinera en Perú donde esta la crema y nata de la marinera.

During these months in Perú, we spent many adventures, that made me think why not as a mom tell/share our adventures? As parents we want the best for our kids; I believe I can motivate other parents to teach their kids to love our culture, our language and the many virtues we have by being born in Perú, right? and eventhough our kids haven’t been born in Perú, they could learn to love our heritage. We could give them that opportunity and much more.

Si tu hijo es chalan en el extranjero una de las mejores inversiones que puedes hacer es llevarlo al Perú a nutrirse del baile, del idioma, del compás, del mensaje y de tantos puntos que se deben aprender para ser mejor chalan cada día.

If your son is a chalan living abroad, one of the best investments you could do if taking him to Perú, to live marinera at its fullest. You can learn about the dance, the language, the message of the dance, and many other things that a chalan should learn.

A travez de este blog podrás inspirarte, motivarte, entender, compartir, comentar y mucho más donde contaré (por ahora) todos los miércoles una historia diferente de Tyler Brooks, como chalan, un chalan que con tan corta edad se ha robado corazones de los que lo han conocido, ya sea por su sonrisa, por sus comentarios fuera de serie, como el popular cuando el profesor le grita “METELE LA CARA A TU PAREJA” y Tyler responde: PROFE, YO NO LA CONOZCO ó el otro muy gracioso cuando el profe le dice: TYLER, ENAMORALA!!! y Tyler responde PERO YO NO LA AMO, o por sus ganas de siempre saludarte con cariño, su estilo de baile, pero simplemente siendo el mismo, ese niño que lucha por ser cada día un mejor chalan, con suerte algun día ser considerado uno de los mejores del mundo y de poder representar al Perú orgullosamente donde vaya, aunque viva lejos de su segunda patria.

Through our blog we will inspire, motivate, share and much more, every Wednesday we will tell a different story of Tyler Brooks, as a marinera chalan, a kid who has stole the hearts of those who have met him,  just by his beautiful smile or funny comments like the popular “GET SUPER CLOSE TO YOUR PARTNER WHEN YOU DANCE” and Tyler said to his trainer, I CAN’T, I DON’T KNOW HER, or the other funny one when his trainer asks Tyler ” FALL IN LOVE WITH HER”, and Tyler responds, I CAN’T I DON’T LOVE HER. Tyler always showing his outgoing personality and always trying to be better as a chalan dancing marinera, hopefully one day he could proudly be one of the best marinera dancers and proudly representing Perú wherever he goes.

Tambien invitaré a otras mamas y profesionales, que puedan ayudarnos en temas de nutrición, o entrevistas con chalanes campeones, que nos puedan hablar de temas importantes, como cuantos ternos debes tener? colores básicos de fajas que debes tener? temas con los cuales podremos aprender y seguir creciendo.

I will invite other moms and professionals, who can help us with nutrition subjects, as well as interviews with champion chalanes who can tell us important subjects like how many suits you should have, or basic colors of belts to have, and simple subjects that can help us to continue growing in the marinera world. 

Tantas aventuras que pasamos en este primer viaje de summer camp en Perú, que siento que debemos compartir nuestras aventuras,  para que no les pase lo que nos paso; así como también contar con los comentarios de las mamas marineristicas y JUNTOS aprender.

We lived so many adventures in our first summer camp trip to Perú. I believe we can share our adventures, so that other parents don’t go through what we went through (the bad things) but also count with the valuable comments from the marinera moms and together continue learning. 

Aquí algunas de nuestras aventuras que nos pasaron:

• Ir al baño y no saber que SIEMPRE debes llevar tu propio papel higiénico, asi es pues, no hay de otra. Puedes comprar tu papel higiénico por 50 centavos y no te olvides de llevar sencillo. Pero con esa mano cochina que agarran la plata también doblan tu papel higiénico.
• Go to the restrooms and don’t know you have to bring your own toilet paper, yes that is the way to roll. You can pay 25cents, and get a small piece of paper, and with the same hand they receive the money they also roll the piece of paper handed to you.
• O cuando tu hijo compite noveles y nacional, pero lo mandas al concurso nacional con el numero de noveles, (anda y corre a cambiarle el número)
• Or when your son compites national and beginers competition with a different number for each of the competitions, and you send him with a different then run and change his number.
• Sentarnos con una pareja de chimbote y que mi hijo escuche de un niño de su misma categoria, que le metió tanto la cara a su pareja, que le dió un beso en la boca. Y yo diciéndole a Tyler: Ya vez no te lo digo yo, te lo dice un niño de tu edad y de tu misma categoría.
• We sat down with a family from Chimbote and Tyler heard from a kid his age that he danced so closed to his partner, he ended up giving her a kiss in her mouth, and I said to Tyler you see I am not kidding, this is someone your age telling you what could happen. Tyler went blushing red.
• Y si te olvidas en el taxi TODO? terno, sombrero, zapatos, medias, etc…te recomiendo taxi beat 🙂 a mi chofer lo bloquearon de hacer servicio hasta que no devolviera mis pertenencias. Y si eres como yo que te olvidas de todo o tus hijos también dejan sus cosas, viaja seguro con taxi Beat.
• What about if after the competition you forget everything? suit, shoes, socks, etc, etc, I recommend Taxi Beat, my driver was blocked from giving a service until he return my belongings. If you are like me that you forget things or your kids forget their toys, I completely recommend Taxi Beat.

Estos y muchos otros temas compartiremos semana a semana, esperando comentarios, sugerencias y sobre todo inspirar a más chalanes en el mundo a mejorar día a día y como mamá inspirar a más mamas en la ardua tarea de vivir con un chalan campeón;)

This subjects and many others I will be sharing week after week, waiting for your comments and suggestions, and hopefully inspire more and more chalanes around the world to do better and as a mom inspire other moms living with a champion chalan.
